Dec 1975
Mr. Agung Sudiatma, Baleka's founder, rented his one & only motorbike, gathering the money bit by bit, and use it to build a house. Building a hotel has never been crossing his mind, even though 2 Australian girls came and rented the unfinished building for 6 months.

Early 1976
The 2nd building just finished. Again, Mr. Agung didn't have a chance to sleep on it, another guest had rented it for a long term. On the other hand, at that time, most of the villagers were in such poverty due to the un-successful harvest. Many of the villagers can't eat. Mr. Agung then borrowed some money from the bank. He recruited some workers from the villagers, bought bamboo, coconut wood, bricks, thatches and all building material also from the villagers, and built 8 houses. This project was able to help the villagers to survive. In order to memorize this, the hotel was named after the village: BAnjar LEgian KAja = BALEKA.

1982
Mr. Agung Sudarma (Mr. Agung Sudiatma's brother) joining the team. They become partners.

1976 - 1990
This is a non stop development period. Till the end of 1990, Baleka has made 45 rooms, swimming pool, restaurant, pool bar, lobby, and around 5 times major building improvements/renovations. Rooms are cottages and wing style located in tropical garden setting

1994 - 2003
Both owners were retired. Each of them has one son who were still in college. So, Baleka was being rented out.

Jan 2004
The new generations are ready, at last. Baleka is now managed by Trisna Gautama and Ngurah Darma Putra.
